Prof. Kai-Kuang Ma obtained his PhD degree from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently a Professor at School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prior to that, he had few years of R&D experience at Institute of Microelectronics (IME), Singapore and IBM Corporation at Kingston, NY, and then Research Triangle Park, NC, USA. His research interests are in the areas of fundamental image/video processing and applied computer vision. He has published extensively in well-known international journals, conferences, and MPEG standardization meetings. He was serving as Singapore MPEG Chairman and Head of Delegation. Two fast motion estimation algorithms (Diamond Search and MVFAST) produced from his research group have been adopted by the MPEG-4 standard. He is currently serving as a Senior Area Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, besides serving as Associate Editor for many other top-tier journals in the past. He was elected as a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society for 2008-2009. He is a Fellow of IEEE.

主要内容

Recent development of high-resolution displays (e.g., 4K displays) has brought a plethora of new requirements and expectations on high-resolution and high-quality images. Owing to such trend and the demand on critical image quality assessment, some existing image processing techniques are required to investigate. In this talk, I shall highlight some recent findings and new results on fundamental image processing techniques developed in my research team, such as image demosaicing, image interpolation, super-resolution, denoising, and quality assessment.
